About
Hello 👋, my name is Balázs Tóthfalussy, and I am a software engineer and engineering manager. I decided to create this blog to share my experiences and knowledge with anybody who is interested. Also, it is also an archive for my thoughts and a reference for myself.
I prefer asynchronous communication, you can find me on LinkedIn. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
At work, I enjoy working in platform teams helping other developers succeed. Throughout my career, I lead multiple large-scale migration projects that are essential for companies to slingshot to the next level and eliminate tech debt. Executing these projects successfully is challenging and highly context-specific. Only start a migration, if you are willing to go the extra mile to 100% completion.
I am also a big believer in metrics, while also accepting the fact that they are tricky. Focusing too much on a single one can almost always lead to a disaster. In the platform teams’ world, check out DORA metrics or the SPACE framework.
Still with me? Here are a couple of interesting facts if you would like to know me more:
- Between 2009-2012 I lived in Beijing, China
- I am a national champion in Run archery (because only a couple of people practice it in the country)
- Currently I live next to Lake Balaton in Hungary
- Finished a marathon (2013) and a half ironman (2014) as well - start to run regularly in 2001
- I am a certified Scrum Master (the test could not be failed!)
- both my name and brilliantly quirky can be abbreviated as b15y, hence the domain name
